A few weeks ago I was able to take a quick trip to Atlanta to go to market and check out the latest in accessories for your home. I thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peek into what’s trending in home accessories and a little sneak peek into what’s going to be big in Christmas decorations this year!
First up we have artwork. Art is such a personal experience that it is one of the hardest things that I have to source for clients. After spending countless hours looking at art it can get a little boring seeing the same thing over and over again so I was very excited to see texture being incorporated into painting.
My favorite piece was this butterfly one made up of tiny cutout paper butterflies.
You are also going to see art that jumps off the page like the dress and flower pieces below.
Finally, the bold use of color is making a come back and I am loving this piece below.
When it comes to accessories and décor items, we are still seeing a lot of texture and blues and greens. I did notice more sculptures this year and there is something for everyone's taste now ranging from all neutrals to bolds pop of color like the yellow with blue below.
The trend towards using texture is still going strong. We are definitely moving away from the Farmhouse trend and moving into more of a contemporary coastal vibe with these oversized pendants and rattan furniture everywhere. The oversized pendants are courtesy of Studio McGee and while they look nice, when this trend dies it will be harder to move light locations to go back to three pendants. If you're going to incorporate this trend, just know what you're getting into!
We can’t go through July without talking about Christmas in July and Christmas was everywhere! I am most excited about the trends I am seeing here. It’s new and exciting and I will be incorporating some of these into my own home.
The first thing I noticed is that Christmas decoration's feel lighter. What I mean by this is they are more playful and fun which I think we could all use right about now.
These tea towels were hilarious and I love the use of gnomes everywhere.
I also love the use of this new shade of green. It’s a departure from the traditional darker green and it pairs nicely with silver and white.
Finally, black and white was everywhere. From mini trees to gnomes I like the plaid vibe the black and white brings and I think it looks festive accented with red and greens.
So, there you have it! Everything you need to know that's trending in home accessories and decor as well as what you can expect to see in stores this year for Christmas. Stay tuned for next month's post where I give you a look into my latest coastal living room design.
