Every once in awhile a client will reach out with a special request. This time my client said he wanted his house to feel like a pirate lives there. I immediately thought I hope he doesn't want me to literally turn his kitchen into a pirate ship LOL! Thankfully, we are were able to draw inspiration from that instead so we went with darker, more moody colors and lots of metal and wood accents.
One of my favorite things about this kitchen is the countertop ledge we did. This is such a fun way to add some storage to your kitchen and it's a unique design element. My client didn't want any upper cabinets so this countertop shelf, along with the open shelving, keep the kitchen feeling open and bright despite the dark grey cabinet color.
My other favorite thing in this kitchen is the island. My client loves to cook and makes homemade bread and pizza! I'm secretly hoping for an invitation to dinner :) The butcher block countertop is great for food prep for this chef. And can we talk about this light fixture for a minute? The glass reminds me of bubbles and the water and the black gives it a more modern industrial vibe.
